Das Zäkum ist der erste Abschnitt des Dickdarms, an den das Ileum anschließt. Es enthält den Wurmfortsatz und spielt eine Rolle bei der Aufnahme von Wasser und Salzen.

Englisch: Cecum. The cecum is the first section of the large intestine, connecting to the ileum, and plays a role in absorbing water and salts. It also contains the appendix.
